Hey guys! I'm Michael Powell, I'm a proud father to a fantastic 13-year-old daughter and the dedicated caretaker of four furry friends. Rest assured, I come equipped with the "best" dad jokes to keep everyone entertained. My journey into the world of photography and filmmaking began 15 years ago during a trip to Mexico, and ever since then, I've been pursuing my passion. With over 100 weddings under my lens, I've found immense joy in documenting the love stories of incredible couples. Work aside, you can catch me enjoying quality time with friends and family, cruising Riverside on my trusty longboard, or embarking on new hobbies to satisfy my A.D.D. When we meet, get ready for laughter, celebration, and if you're lucky, I might even show you my awesome dance moves.

I’ve been a professional photographer since 2003 and my speciality is capturing authentic emotions and genuine personal stories. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I believe professional, creative wedding photography is the best way to tell your unique love story. In fact, I wear so many creative hats that storyteller is the best description of what I do!
Beyond my award-winning photography, I excel as a top retoucher and Photoshop artist, as well as an accomplished video production director, scriptwriter and editor (and those are just the day jobs!) In my side hustle, I am a songwriter, guitar player, singer, bassist, and recording & performing artist collaborating with my wife Jennifer in our original music band, Riverside Rebellion.
Together, Jen and I are partners at Shipman Photography; dedicated to creatively telling our clients unique stories from weddings and portraits to commercial projects for renowned brands like Hard Rock & River Spirit. Our passion lies in producing generational visual content - heirloom quality photography, graphic art and cinematic videos - for a diverse clientele, ranging from well-known artists and prominent business leaders to private personal photography clients.

Hello there! I’m part of the dynamic duo at Shipman Photography, working alongside my husband Gregg. In addition to being an experienced photographer, I also bring commercial producer experience to the table - delivering a unique organizational skill set to our clients, honed through managing the many moving parts involved in large scale advertising agency photography shoots and music video productions.
That producer skillset seamlessly transitions into my role as a wedding coordinator, ensuring that a bride’s big day goes as smoothly as possible. Let’s face it, brides should be sipping champagne and soaking up the love, not worrying about schedules and vendor logistics!
Gregg and I are soulmates and proud parents to three wonderful daughters and 5 lovable fur babies. We are also bandmates! I’m a singer and keyboard player in our band, and we love making beautiful music together. We aren’t just artists, we are storytellers who understand the rhythm of love and the importance of making your wedding day a harmonious celebration!
